Looking through the records on Ancestry, there are details of trips overseas made by James in the 1920 's when he appears to have been a ships engineer. There is also records of Edna and her family travelling to Southern Africa in early 1950's.

I'd be really grateful if someone could look up the 1939 census for James Duffin (Oldham 1882) and his family..
He married Gertrude Shepherd (1885 Oldham) on the 30th December 1913 and they had two children:- James K Duffin (1916 Weymouth District) and Edna G Duffin (1918 Weymouth District.). Neither of the children were married by 1939. They were probably in Oldham
