You're not 'taking up our time' - we come on the boards looking for people who need help. We enjoy giving the help, so don't feel 'awful'

The marriages and 1939 register entries posted on page 3 are already on Page 1.
Denise, you need to learn your way around the freebmd site https://www.freebmd.org.uk
As it's name suggests it's free to use and by inputting surname and mmn you should be able to find births to the couples in the right areas. Be aware there are sometimes couples with the same combination of surnames so not all births are the same family. the site is also used for marriages and deaths - all go from Q3 1837 up to around 1980. And mmn only available from 1912 onwards (death ages from mid 1860's)
Pre 1912 you can find mmn quoted on another free site - again from 1837 https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
which lists both those and age at death pre the mid 1860's

Thank you. Got about Alice Trueman married in 1925 Arthur Buckley. Got Agnes married William Henry Taylor in 1932 but not got info about children. Got Albert married Annie Storey in 1932. Not got child born in 1936 nor his death in 1940. Once again thank you. Going to join Ancestry or Find My Past as they seem much better than Genes for the money. Only joined Genes due to recommendation by a relative.

Hi Erika Thanks for that. The 1939 info shows the family. Winifred who married Dennis Hitchen is my mother. Seems like Margaret was born in 1897 in Royston, Barnsley. As mentioned before, can remember John Edwards brother coming to his funeral in 1970. Not sure of his first name, but Bertie comes to mind, so could have been his half brother, Albert Trueman. Really appreciate your help. Trawled through loads of records last night and can't find any info relating to Margaret Davison, Thomas Davison or William Davison. Going to York and Lancaster museum on Monday as wondered if they joined up for WW1 and possibly got killed. Their stepdad John Trueman was an ex serviceman and served in WW1, so maybe they enlisted. Know John Edward was in the Navy on submarines but invalided out due to an explosion which took his hearing.

Probably predictive text, oh how I dislike it! Corrected.
Would have to say Ancestry good for other people's trees Denise - which can give so much guidance - BUT remember to take with a pinch of salt unless proof is attached.

Your post, greyghost, shows how things can be misread - my name for example. lol!
Yes I used Ancestry in that instance because it linked from the marriage - whch isn't on FMP in such detail

Find My past also do a free trial. That and Ancestry both have their plus points, and much can depend on where your research is centred.
You can see the difference in the way census are shown just on this thread for example - I use FMP and find it gives more information in one place. Looks like ErikaH used ancestry for the 1871 bottom of previous page.
The Military records I got from FMP (Ancestry also have Military but not always the same).
