Thanks both, I have seen those marriages. The Rochdale one is definitely not him I checked that one out and found that that George was born in Rochdale |

The rank on Page 3 of his Service Reord is Lance-Sgt. It is not Lieutenant Sgt, which does not exist as a rank |

When George joined up, his occupation was Schoolmaster. Unlikely, then, that the Engineer who travelled abrod in 1926 is the same man - especially as he was an Army Officer in 1916. |
