William was a gold engraver according to the 1861 and 1871 census, born in Shoreditch and living in Poplar, London. He is recorded as Lamantyne in 1861, but I have failed to find him in previous or later censuses. His wife and daughter (born 1871) were both called Emma. There is a baptism in Shoreditch in 1848 for a William Lamendin, but born 1823. His daughter, Emma married my grandfather's uncle.
I am hoping to connect these Lamendins with a Charles Lamandy, a weaver from Bethnal Green who died in 1762. He married Martha Vandersteen, a widow, previously married to Bartholomew Vandersteen, also a weaver. Bartholomew is from another branch of my family. Does anyone have access to records that would fill the gap between Charles Lamandy and William Lamendin, please?
