I know I am probably not going to get a firm date of birth for Lewis Jones, I have got 3 cousins also searching for him, and we are not getting anywhere, but would it be possible for you to have a quick look for me for a possible baptism record for Eunice, I have the other 3 sisters birth certificates, and baptism records, and I will order Eunice's birth certificate if necessary, just to complete my records. I have searched under Eunice and Unice, and for her Mother Eleanor Humphreys I have also searched for Elenour and Ellen, as she was sometimes known. As the other 3 sisters were baptised I thought she may be to.
Eunice is the Great Aunt of my cousin and her sister Catherine was my Great Grandmother. We are trying to work this out together.

To the best of my knowledge, he was born 1839, going by the census's and the death cert states date of death 31 Jul 1891, aged 52.
But as we know, you cant go by census's.

With reference to alviegal's post last year on 9th January 2019 at 21-59
1891 census shows the family Lewis and Eleanor Jones at 21 Morton Terrace.
With a lot of help from GR and a lot of digging myself, I finally managed to find that my 2x Great Grandfather Lewis Jones died on 31 July 1891 at 21 Morton Terrace.
I managed to confirm his first wife was Ruth Evans. I have the marriage certificate.
I have never been able to find a record of Lewis's birth, or baptism (which is my outstanding query.
I thought that if a tried looking at their children Mary Ann (mmn Evans) Catherine (mmn Humphreys), and Jane (mmn Humphreys) it might help. I found all 3 of these baptism records, but I cant find one for Eunice, Eunice was born 1886 at Clydach Vale, Glamorgan. 1st qtr. 11a page 616 Pontypridd, Glamorgan, she died in 1924.
I have looked at FMP, Ancestry and Family search, and I cant see one, maybe she just wasnt baptised.
I would be really very grateful if you could have a quick look for me, but dont spend too much of your valuable time on it because I am just clutching at straws now, my real aim is to find Lewis's baptism or firm birth date, and because I keep hitting a brick wall, I thought maybe a different line would help.

Thank you ArgyllGran I will order that certificate, Ive done so much research on Lewis that I would like to get a complete picture. I did order the one for Ruth Evans, and what I think is Lewis's death certificate. If Ann Davies is correct then that's all 3 wifes.
I really do appreciate all your help today, I know how much time you have spent on it for me.

I don't see a marriage to an Ann Owen in a reasonable timeframe.
Ann Davies seems more likley - but marriage 1857, not 1868 -
Lewis Jones in the England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1837-1915 Name: Lewis Jones Registration Year: 1857 Registration Quarter: Apr-May-Jun Registration district: Aberystwith Inferred County: Cardiganshire Volume: 11b Page: 105 Records on Page: Name Ann Davies <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Lewis Jones <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Jane Morgans William Watkins
You'd need to buy the cert to know for sure.

2 trees in Ancestry have him married to an Ann Owen 1843 Llancynfelin, decd 1875 Machynlleth,
and an Ann Davies born 1835, no DOD married 18/9/1868
I know they can't both be right, but they could both be wrong.

Could be him in the 1861 census, he did go from being a farm hand to a miner, and there are not many Lewis Jones who were born in Llancynfelin.

As I said in my last post, the "9" looks very like the way the enumerator has written "2" elsewhere on the document. "19" may be a mistranscription.

Our messages crossed, he would have been 12 in 1851.
His DOB on that census is appx. 1832, maybe he told them he was older that he was.

Just summarising what I have so far:
No birth record for Lewis with MMN of Thomas, although all the other siblings were baptised and he wasn't.
I have him at age 2 on the 1841 census with parents John and Elizabeth.
Cant find him anywhere on the census's for 1851, 1861 and 1871.
Then he appears with Eleanor in 1881. (They married 1877, I have the certificate).
So I have a gap of 40 years, although I think I have found wife number 2, Ruth Evans (Married 1874) if its her.
I really am wondering now if John wasn't his Father, or Elizabeth wasn't his Mother, and he was sent off elsewhere because of this.

No, he must have been living elsewhere, perhaps already working.

His age could be 12 - it's not clear on the image, and the "9" looks similar to the way the enumerator has written "2" elsewhere.

Yes, I was about to say that the only other Jones/Thomas birth in the same quarter as Isaac's birth is this one:
JONES, ABRAM mms THOMAS GRO Reference: 1843 S Quarter in ABERYSTWYTH Volume 27 Page 16
"William" must be a mistake on the part of the enumerator. Or maybe he was known as William in the family.
Perhaps the Jones parents had a bit of a Biblical sense of humour!
