The 1865 birth is most likely as John states Charles Hayward's parents were Jabez Hayward and Lavinia nee Filmer. He'd picked up the 'wrong' birth reg for Charles. |

Malyon, we've ruled out the Fever/Heyward marriage as the Charles Heyward's father is George. |

It wasn't compulsory to register a child's birth until 1874. It's possible that Charles/Charles William or what ever fell into that category. The Biddenden. Sissinghurst, Rolvenden area of Kent is still quite rural - perhaps his parents didn't bother? |

It might be worth asking John how he came to Charles Heyward. Could he have researched back from a sibling & picked up the wrong father?? |
