Major Gibson must have taken his family Wife and children to France later in 1851 as the record I have with the death is in December that year. It seems from his age that he may have retired.(his age seems to fluctuate) |

Had a look at my records and I think the death was in Boulogne sur Mer not Calais and that was where he was working. |

My G Grandfather Alfred Greenhill was killed in suspicious circumstances while in the employ of Major Gibson in Calais. There was also employed a Jane Roberts who was pregnant by Alfred.(assumed married as Alfred was a widower) His body was found by friends and I cannot ascertain why he was killed. |
