Hello, help please on the following:
William Race marries Margaret Willis Dec q 1876 Houghton Le Spring. 1881 census as follows:
1881 census Lambton Street H Le Spring
William 29 coalminer Haswell Margaret 28 Haswell George Edward 3 H Le Spring Fishburn 1 H Le Spring Elizabeth 71 coal miner’s mother Howden Pans Mary Race 37 sister Haswell James F 33 brother coalminer Haswell coal miner married
William (occupation farmer) and family emigrate to Australia departing London 18 August 1887 arriving in Sydney 30 September 1887. Passengers William 37, Margaret 36, George Edward 9, Polly 44, Fishburn 7, Eley Jane (Elizabeth Jane) 2, John William 1. Polly is Mary, William’s sister. Doesn't have name of ship.
Don't need any details on James as I have a previous thread on his lifeline.
The above emigration is off family search which is the only site I have access to. Can anyone find any details of them after landing in Australia in 1887. I would have thought Fishburn Race name unusual but can't find anything.
Thank you very much - Marian

A bit more on those marriages:
1908/1907 RACE FISHBURN COLES CAROLINE E M MOSMAN
6004/1908 RACE FISHBURN COLES CAROLINE E M SINGLETON
The numbers (1908/1907 etc.) are marked as registration numbers not dates ?? and although they appear to be in 2 districts, the marriages are both for the same couple ???

Hello Sylvia, just logged on and seen the above. Thank you so much, so much information to digest. I hadn't realised Elizabeth had also gone to Australia. I had logged onto Trove as I have used the site years ago but I seem to have lost the knack of navigating round the site after so long. Thank you also for adding the web sites - kind regards - Marian

Marain .........
you're welcome.
Trove is a wee bit difficult to navigate, you just have to keep trying.
You might also get a lot from the National Archives site ........ especially the military service. I would not be at all surprised to find that at least some of the Race family served in WW1.
I'll check on FMP for Elizabeth's emigration.
Did I understand the funeral notice correctly ............. she had another son George who also emigrated? Did you know that??
