Find Ancestors

Hi.Because I have been misled by the Ancestry trees,I have been following an assumption that William Lester,c.1856,London had married an Annie Cosgrove,c.1856,Staffs.

This is obviously not the William Lester I was tracing.My original search was the Lester Family in North Ormsby,Middlesbrough in the early 1900's.I was sidetracked by this Annie Cosgrove connection which appears to be a totally different family.

Once again I must apologise for misleading all you researchers.

Go back to basics, I believe you have been following 2 different families. And as Dea suggested earlier you go back and tell us where you traced them from.

What is the last know fact you know about your family - ie who have you traced them back from? Think you need to go back to this to find out who exactly you are trying to trace.

Hi,researchers.I feel I must apologise.I think I have been totally misled,not for the first time,by trees on Ancestry. I was working on
William Lester,c,1855,London,marrying a Annie Cosgrove.c.1855,Staffs.I have now found William,Ann and family in Middlesbrough,1911.Married for 38yrs,13 children.The nearest record for their marriage I have found was in Wolstanton,Staffs.1873. This record says William married either Ann Hassall or Ann Edge. Maybe I can work out their Ancestors from this record,now.

I agree with Dea, there looks to be more than 1 Henry Cosgrove married to a Bridget. If the census is correct, then that can't be their marriage in Dudley they would only have been around 11 years old!

The tree on ancestry that I looked at made no mention of Henry in US, but they had used the autofill on the address Yorkshire, putting it in the US.

Hi Terry,

Please forgive me for saying so but it seems to me that you are following info from various trees and going off in many directions, including to America and back and possibly including several different 'Henry's' in your search ?

Perhaps it would be better for us to bare this back to what you actually know to be a fact and what info you have about 'your' Henry and start off with a blank sheet?

Where does he fit into your family please and how have you worked your way back to him?

Thanks everybody.Bridget's maiden name was Payton,I think. A tree on Ancestry thinks she married Henry in 1861.
Another puzzling thing is that it also says Annie Cosgrove married in 1875 to William Lester at Whitby,and she was born Staffs.Still can't quite fathom it out.
