Fresh eyes needed please.

I have Amy Edith Mary Bond born 1904 in Putney.

On the 1939 England + Wales register she is with her family, the surname Bond has been crossed out and Sheppard has been written in.

She died in 1982 and I have found 2 death entries for her in the name of Bond and Sheppard.

In Index Wills + Administration the entry reads - Bond, Amy Edith Mary or Sheppard, Amy Edith Mary.


I have tried looking for a marriage for her but can't find one and am now going boss-eyed!

Any hekp appreciated please.

the change is dated 4.6.46 - not necessarily the date of the name change, but the date that the register was changed

also noted WR230 EMB

If the death and probate record is shown in both names perhaps she lived with and was known as Sheppard but never married ?

Obviously didn't actually marry - just used the name Sheppard

The informant on the death cert may be related

The probate record is listed primarily under Bond. The entry for Sheppard refers you to Bond so ? probably not married.
