I am looking for the trip details of 3 brother-in law and their families and parents-in-law : Thay are 1) James McCann 1879-1953 2) Robert Hackett 1876-1961 3) Thomas Scotson 1879-1943
Then, in 1920, Thomas & Margaret McCann
In 1911, James and Robert were not with their families in Wigan. They did appear in Montana on the Us 1910 census.
Their landlord (another coal miner from Wigan who emigrated 20 y earlier) says James and Robert arrived 1909. Did Dorothy and the kids join James in the US? When did they return to the UK? (They have another kid in Wigan in 1915q3 and James dies in Wigan in 1953.)
Thomas Scotson arrives in the US, supposedly in 1911, but exactly when? Thomas and Robert's families join them later. When? Did a hubby fetch them, or were they sent for? It would seem Thomas went initially to Utah as Clifford Scotson was born in Clearcreek, Carbon Co UT (abt 80km SE of Provo) on 13/7/1913. However, by 1920, Robert and Thomas were both living with their families who arrived pre-1914.
Nominal US census day was 1/1/1920. Thomas & Margaret McCann were not on the census, but Margt's obit says they arrived in 1920. It's not clear whether they came direct to the US, or arrived via Canada. Margt (1929) and Thomas (1943) died in Cascade Co MT and were buried in Sand Coulee Cemetery, Cascade Co MT.
