Does anyone have any information regarding an incident we were told of, regarding a family ancestor, either Sunnucks or Richardson where a couple eloped - he was a Groom, she a member of "well to do" family, possibly connected to Brewery, both working at the castle, Golden Green, Hadlow, Kent. Someone gave chase, the horse bolted, overturning the carriage and the couple were killed. Would imagine the time line would be around the mid 1800's. |

Thanks malyon - Mary Ann Sunnucks nee Richardson did have a brother Albert Richardson, born Hadlow Kent, abt 1855, living there with Henry Sunnucks and her, on 1871 Census, so possible was him? Haven't found him on 1881 actually! |

The image of that 1871 census says "brother" for Albert Richardson - not "boarder" as in the FMP transcription. |

Are you thinking that Albert may have been the one who eloped and was killed? (Although he'd only an Ag Lab in 1871, not a groom specifically.) |

Neither of the two older Samway daughters died at the same time as Albert. |

Thanks for all that Argyllgran! Loads to think about. Tried finding more about Ellen Sickle and Jane Coomber in case although they were servants, either of them was the one. Got me thinking, Florence would have been 15 in 1871, could it be her? Eloping because under age - Albert died, but maybe she was injured and died 1875? |

Possible, Maureen - we'll never know, unless maybe someone can find a newspaper report. |
