Wow! Thanks so much to all who answered - I need to dig in to all answers - my grandmother was Bertha George born 1896 and Ada Mafeking was always called Aunty Maff - she must have lived to a ripe old age as I remember her and also Aunty Alice (great aunts of course). My own grandmother Bertha died in 1961 and as a small girl remember them coming to my grandmothers funeral. Aunty Maff I believe married a Frank Squirrel.

Cissie might be a nick name at a guess. My great aunt was registered as Susannah and always known as Cis. Vice versa one of her daughters was registered as Cissie and always known as Sue!

Lynne mentioned the possibility that Cissie was named Sicily after a battle - obviously not the case.

But interesting to see another daughter named Mafeking!

Fortunately it was only her middle name:

Father is a bricklayer on both entries which are consecutive on the register. Address is hard to read, 3 Montreal Terrace?

I'm beginning to wonder if Cissie is a nickname for Vera Hester.

There's no GRO record for a ronald poynts

Cissie Poynts (that's how it is spelt) is shown on 1911 census s a grand daughter of my great grandmother Fanny George. There is also a brother Ronald Poynts born 1907.

That is the only trace I can find of these children and although I recognize the name Aunty Sis from when I was a child but was told her name was Sicily after battle(?).

Does anyone know these names - I suspect that the mother of these children could be Clara George who was my g grandmother's oldest daughter who is not shown on the census.

Any info would be wonderful.
