There's also a homeless woman Ada Smart arrested for being drunk & disorderly in 1924, I wonder! :-(

Maybe she took up with someone else and took their surname

We know this happened to hubby's paternal grandmother who never married his grandfather but moved on to several different men . So I am told from descendents of her siblings

Know too she died c1931 and in a Birmingham hospital but haven't been able to pinpoint her as she must have lied about her age too

One of those ?? that stays a mystery

Sorry, I can't see her death (unless the Bolton one is correct), nor anywhere in 1911, even searching without surname in case she'd gone off with someone else.

I can't find a death for her either. Maybe they just separated?

I can't find any trace of her in the 1939 register either.

Hi all.

Please could someone be kind enough to look for a death for Ada Ellen Smart/Smartt sometime between 1901 & 1911? Her husband George appears as a widower in 1911 census - I'm assuming he was telling the truth!

It's probably staring me in the face, but I just can't see it.
