Can't see a birth of a Bertrand Isidore, so it does look as if they changed his name between birth and death.

Or should it be Bertram Theodore Punshon,as Emily had a brother and other relatives called Theodore.

The only thought I have is that they may have done a name change at baptism???????????

EDIT:

NO, his parents are Jonathan and Elizabeth, per 1881 census.

He must have died before 1881, when Lionel and Percy are in school together.

That death doesn't come up on a search on the GRO site - but does on FreeBMD.

It must be the right one - I don't see any other possibility..

This is the birth of Bertram but I cannot find him after this. I assume he is the child who died but I can only find one death. Can anybody else find a death that is more likely?

please read VERY carefully.

Several helpers have commented that it looks as though William and Emily Hesse did NOT marry, and that the children were illegitimate although William apparently agreed to them being registered under his name.

Indications include that every child appears to have the second name of Hesse.

Plus the fact that NO marriage has been found


We have found what looks like a marriage for that William with Catherine Forster in 1874 ............... ie, after he was having children with Emily.

Pleas don't dismiss all the work that we have spent hours on this family.

I don't know where this Catherine Forster is coming from ? A relation maybe, but not who I am looking for at this moment.

Emily Hesse marriage to William Punshon is the one I want to find please.....

Catherine said they had been married 37 years in 1911, that translates to a marriage around 1874
