I know that the 1861 and 1871 census information is correct but following that I'm not sure as you say there is more than one James Pennington born c1844

Well, not unless he kept changing his occupation.
In 1861 and 1871 he's a glass cutter.
The boarder James in 1881 is a carter.


EDIT:

There were four James Pinington/Pinningtons born in Prescot in 1843-5.
Two of them died 1843-4.
But that still leaves two to confuse!

I am Looking for Information relating to James Pennington b1844 son of James Pennington 1803 and Mary Flood
1861 and 1871 census show him with James and Mary and sister Anne and possibly a boarder in 1881 census at 5 Wilfred Street but can't find a marriage or confirm his whereabouts after 1881
