I am looking for the Cass family.
William Cass b1797 & Harriet Ann Finch b1815, marry 1839 St Paul, Shadwell, Middlesex.
They have 4 known children -
William Henry Cass 1840 Chelmsford, Samuel John Cass 1842 Limehouse, Harriet Lambirth Cass 1847 Stepney, Alfred Henry Cass 1849 Stepney.
I have them in all in 1851 at 5, Church Street, Stepney,
By 1861, Harriet is a widow, living at 2, Fair Street, Mile End Town, Middlesex. Son Samuel is not with family - cannot find him after this date!
1871 Census, living at 32, Ann Street, Bethnal Green, Harriet, with children Harriet & Alfred at this address - Samuel & William both missing!
1881 Census through to 1911 Census, I only have youngest son Alfred (Who is now married) with his family.
I have a marriage for Harriet in 1883 to a Thomas John Walker, but she dies in 1888.
Sorry for rambling on, but can anyone help with this family in any of the census....
Thanks

The Samuel Cass who died 1874 with address Frickley Hall, was not at Frickley Hall in 1871 - can't see him anywhere.
If that's your Samuel's death in 1874, presumably his brother William Henry's son Samuel J born 1878 was named in his memory.
ADDED:
On the other hand, there's this man in 1891, a tailor. The age is bit out, but your Samuel John is the only Samuel Cass born in London 1840-55, as far as I can see.

(Samuel's surname looks to be Cass on original image)

His surname in 1861 is very hard to make out. There seem to be more squiggles than would be necessary for writing Cass. I can understand why someone has decided it's East. It could even be seen as Carter. (I don't think it is, though.)
