hi
trying to find any information on edward arthur bradley born 1892 to arthur bradley and mary elizabeth simpson.
he married late in life to ellen clegg in 1935 . I think he was injured in the first world war and had a missing foot. He was in the scottish rifles. He and ellen clegg lived in burnley but were not married very long as she passed away. He died in 1956 and this is all i know.

:-)

yes ellen had been married to mark hocking and he died around 1933. She married edward in 1935 but died in 1937 . Very brief marriage. Mark and ellen had my grandma mabel, sister doris, sister nellie and brother sydney.
I am tryiing to attempt to get a photograph of ellen clegg/bradley/hocking and i thought that if i found out more about edward bradley someone may have had a photo, maybe of the wedding or them as a couple. Slim chance i know. My mum has never seen a picture of her grandma as she died when my mum was a baby. :-)

ellens first husband was quite a bit older than her but edward was six years younger.
He took on the youngest two children when ellen died , my grandma mabel had already gotten married . Think doris lived with them too until she got married.

http://www.military-researcher.co.uk/KingsRegs1912/Para392Introduction.html

A Guide to WW1 Causes of Discharge - Paragraph 392 of King's Regulations

1912 King's Regulations for the Army set out the various reasons (causes) for which a soldier could be discharged. In WW1, paragraph 392 of the 1912 edition of King's Regulations contained all the official causes of discharge, and these were set out in sub-paragraphs, numbered from (i) to (xxvii), omitting (xvii). In 1919 a new cause of discharge was introduced, numbered (xxviii).

xvi - No longer physically fit for war service

Not finding a Service records for him - around 70% were destroyed during a fire in WW2, they may have told you more.

May just be a rumour but my great uncle Sidney told me his step dad Edward Bradley lost a foot in the war. He definately had a foot missing. Like you say , probably clutching at straws for a photo of ellen clegg. I did discover because you had found Edward had a sister Ada , that i actually know her family without realizing the connection from being a child so i am going down that route now . So thankyou. She had a,son Herbert Myers and i know his sons . So thanks again . You've been really helpful :-) :-)
