yes, thats them. She must have seen sense and not taken him back then. Wonder how long he got for his prison sentence. Goodness they sent him a long way from home. Deserved as well as it was attempted murder and he told police he would finish her off once he got out of prison. |

Goodness, sentences were severe then wernt they ? Twenty years for wounding and it looks like he served at the very least 14 years. Mnd you , he intended to kill her and said he would finish the job when he got out. How times have changed. Or perhapshe came up for parole and never said he was sorry. ? |

thanks for that andew and safc, will try to find out a little bit more. His son fred married my great grandma and i did hear some tales but wasnt sure of the whole story. Thanks :-S |

unfortunately sophia also lost two of the sons in the first world war we see on the census above , edward died in 1917 and james was killed aged 29 in 1915. She had a tough life this lady !!! Willy(william )survived, as did Fred , who was the man who married my great grandma :-S |
