I contacted a friend who is a forester by birth and he told me that the newspaper for Cinderford at the time was the Dean Forest Mercury |

Thank you for your help. I think the first step will be the local library to see what they hold there. After that I will see if the local newspaper has articles online. Re the 1939 Register - George Peter Matthews was not in fact married to Blanche - he legal wife had left him for someone else. |

Try contacting the library to ask if they have historical local papers on film. If they don’t, they should be able to tell you where they are. If you ask them to research the event on your behalf, they’ll probably make a charge. |

I have recently discovered - via probate - that George Peter Matthews of 61 high ~Street Cinderford was last seen alive September 1956 and his skeleton found April 1958 in dense forest land Heywood, Cinderford.. I do not know any local newspapers but am sure it would have been reported on. I am wondering how he met his demise - unlawful killing, accident, got lost in the forest. Could/would anyone be able to local any report on this event ? Thank you for any help you may be able to give. |
