Yes, if this Ipswich family is relating to Annie Wood/Garrod (whatever!) then don't think it's looking to be easy...(suppose easy was too much too ask for!)
We'll see...

Re Alice 1867 marrying James Mills -
There are two Mills couples in Ipswich in 1901, with sons named Ernest, born 1897 (per the census).
Alfred & Annie (nee Bull), and James & Alice
I don't see the birth of James & Alice's son Ernest, so far.
In fact, I can't see James & Alice's marriage, so don't know if she's Alice Page or not.
It's NOT this one:
Marriages Dec 1888 (>99%) Kirby Alice Harriett Mutford 4a 1809 MILLS James William Mutford 4a 1809

Yes, you're right about Alice Maud (1887) marrying Edgar Chamberlain. In 1911 they have two children, Violet (7 months) and Jessie (3).

Well, no I don't, Chris! This bit of the west coast, about 100 miles north of Glasgow, is completely snow free. Absolutely icy wind, but no lying snow, despite occasional flurries. Blue sky and sunshine yesterday - cloudier today, but still no snow. So far! I may have to eat my words later.
Now looking again at the Alices . . . . . .
I hope that marriage cert arrives soon, to settle the matter - or else set us off in another direction altogether.

(I'm trying to keep away till that Cert. arrives, you keep enticing me AG, lol, lol. James Mills is with Alice 1901 (I think!) they now have Ernest Mills (1897)...(but when looked on GRO, he seemed to have Maiden Name Bull)...
(think Alice Maud Married Edgar Baker Chamberlain 1905, they are on 1939 (Ipswich, Birthdate 21/1/87)
Aaggh!...
Chris :)
(ain't you got no snow to clear up there AG, lol, don't think we should be moaning down here really, after seeing news reports, getting worried my Scottish mackerel fillets will be in short supply!!)

Re the mother Elizabeth Page nee Smith -
I posted 1871 and 1881, and Chris posted a possible sighting in 1891.
Here's the 1891 Elizabeth in 1901, with the daughter Alice born 1887 (don't know what happened to the Alice born 1869) .
[ It's possible that the Elizabeth in 1871 and 1881 isn't the same one as in 1891 or 1901, given the fact that Alice's birth suggests her mms was Page ]
Alice Page in the 1901 England Census Name: Alice Page Age: 14 Estimated birth year: abt 1887 Relation to Head: Boarder Gender: Female Birth Place: Ipswich, Suffolk, England Civil Parish: Elm St Mary Ecclesiastical parish: Elm St Mary County/Island: Suffolk Country: England Street address: Occupation: Condition as to marriage: Education: Employment status: View image Registration district: Ipswich Sub-registration district: Ipswich Western ED, institution, or vessel: 28 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 1776 Folio: 125 Page Number: 18 Household schedule number: 149 Household Members: Name Age Anna Finch 49 Mary Ann Finch 23 Elizabeth Page 60 - widow, Nurse [Sick ?] Alice Page 14 - factory hand
If she is the same Elizabeth, then possibly George's death:
Deaths Jun 1894 (>99%) Page George 49 Ipswich 4a 425
I'll stop speculating now, and wait for Carol to report on the marriage cert!

Just to add - although of course it's a very common name -
the alternative Annie's mms was Smith - which was one of James's alias surnames.

I agree with AG- the alternative Annie looks more likely. Especially when you look at the names of Annie's children. Some of the names seem to be repeated from James' family, but there are also George, Elizabeth, Annie and Alice, which may have come from Annie's family.
Glad you've ordered the marriage certificate.

Carol -
I think we had discounted Annie May Page (mms Webber). See discussion on page 2.
[ EDIT: Thanks, Chris - hadn't noticed you'd mentioned this above. ]
Annie May is on the 1901 census - already posted on page 2, but I'll copy it here for ease. (Also 1881 when she's with sister Gertrude) .
So she can't be the same Annie as the one who's with James Garrard in 1901.: Unless somehow she's entered on both records, which is not unkown.
Annie M. Page in the 1881 England Census Name: Annie M. It's a common name, and the YOB is wrong - but posting in case relevant:
Annie Page in the London, England, Workhouse Admission and Discharge Records, 1764-1930 Name: Annie Page Admission Age: 25 Record Type: Admission Birth Date: 1864 Admission Date: 8 Apr 1889 Admission Place: Westminster, Westminster, London, England Occupation: servant Reason for admission: In labour Discharged: To police
Just before the discharge details there's a column of names which seem to bear no relation to the people admitted and discharged - don't know what that column means. The name in that column in Annie Page's record is Alfred Bryant.
??? Probably her child:
