Hi I have a birth entry of my ancestor William Cotton 1792 Alsager church
Residence Oakhanger moss Haslington

I had other William threads but I feel this needs to be separate so as not to confuse.

So Williams parents were William Cotton & Sarah Cotton.(cousins)

William seniors parents were Thomas Cotton husbandman & Hannah Mainwaring.

Hannah’s father was Henry so that’s Williams great grandad (?)

Now his maternal line is
Sarah’s parents as follows John Cotton & Ann Mainwaring

So this makes the grandparents (Cotton ) brothers & (mainwaring ) sisters all legal apparently thank goodness!!

So the common great grandad is Henry Mainwaring
Now it’s Henry Mainwaring that I would like to trace I’m guessing he’s gonna to be earlier 1700s birth.
