There is also a Nora TOWNEND born 1939, mother's maiden name also is Lancaster.
This one is registered as North Manchester which is where I and this particular branch of the family hail from so perhaps they later returned to this neck of the woods before going to live down south.

Just been looking into the fifth hidden record in the 1939 register for the Uplands, Rhos Rd, Colwyn Bay address.

Looks like they went on to have a further son, Alan, but haven't found any more about him yet.

So Sorry I haven't responded earlier - unexpected visitors!!

My search on Ancestry brought up the following result for births for the final quarter of 1922 and I mistakenly looked at them as 3 separate entries with"my" Ronald seeming to be the third one.

But, as you so rightly say, and I should have looked more closely, the first and third may very well be the same person and I may well have to send for certificates to be sure. Thank you for helping me to see what may well have been right in front of me

As for Peter I did not know of his existence until today, he died a few years before I was born and I don't recall ever hearing anyone mention him.

The 1998 death gives birth date, so to sure this is, or is not, your Ronald you really need to buy the birth certificte to see what his date of birth was.

I don't see the birth of a Ronald Townend , in Devon.

It's not coming up on Ancestry or FreeBMD

The only Ronald Townend births in last qr of 1922 seem to be your Ronald, and one in Clitheroe.
The Clitheroe one had middle name Victor, and he died in 2005.

So as far as I can see, the Devon death is likely to be your Ronald.

He may also have died in WW2?

Of course, it's possible that Ronald never married and is still alive.

Or if he emigrated, he may have flown, in which case there will be no record online.

I have Ancestry world wide but not picking up any travel info

I don't have an actual DOB for Ronald as I have only just, this weekend, turned attentions to this branch of the family. William ("Billy") Townend was my grandfather's step-brother and I would love to know if there are any relations in the area.

As I can't find a marriage or a death, I wonder if he stayed in the UK or perhaps emigrated or something? No reason to suspect this other than the lack of records but I do not have a worldwide Ancestry subscription and perhaps I should look at upgrading

Hi
I'm looking for info re Ronald TOWNEND born in the final quarter of 1922 in Old Colwyn, N Wales (Registration: Conway). Ronald was the son of William (Billy) Townend and Olive Townend (nee Lancaster) and, together with my grandfather, George Townend, William (Billy) ran a haulage/coach driving business.

I can find Ronald's birth in 1922 but cannot trace a marriage or a death.

There is a death in N Devon in 1998 but this is more likely the other Ronald Townend born the same quarter of 1922 in N Devon.
