Does anyone have any ideas how to go about finding my grandfather's ancesters/relatives.
He married my grandmother Louisa Flood Cameron on 15th sept 1913 in Peebles, Scotland - she was 18, he 19 years of age. On the marriage certificate his father was named as Otto Fuchs, cycle mechanic - mother was Marie Fuchs nee Honould.
He disappeared shortly after their marriage in 1913!!
On CWGC I've found out that an Otto Fuchs died in march 1918, and lies in Morchies Military Cemetry in France. However it was a very common name and it doesn't mention how old he was. So not sure if it's him.
Any ideas anyone??

I don't understand why he would be on The Commonwealth War Graves site? He is listed as being in the German Army.

There are 10 German servicemen including Otto who died same day or day after at MORCHIES MILITARY CEMETERY

Ed Evening News, 26th Jan 1914.British Newspapers.

Otto Fuchs a waiter & native of Germany was sent to prison for 1 month for desertion of his wife and 2 month old child. he was brought back from London to answer the charge.

If he was still in the UK when WW1 broke out, could he have been interned?

Kay??? I am absolutely FLABBERGASTED!! You've nailed this on the head to perfection. The child in question was in fact my mother.
Thanks ever so much. I read the whole article on page 5 of the Edinburgh Evening News of 26th jan 1914.
But tell me how on earth did you do it?
