William Jackson and Elizabeth had the following children christened in Belper:-

Emanuel Jackson (25.10.1818)
Maria Jackson (14.01.1821)
Henry French Jackson (23.02.1823)

Emanuel became the balloonist, "The Midland Aeronaut" who murdered his wife and then committed suicide in 1883 in Derby.

Can anyone help to identify William and Elizabeth?

Thanks in advance
Richard

Have you tried Family Search site

Depending on their ages they could be on at least the 1841 census

Thanks for that information.
Emanuel had left home by 1841 and moved to Derby where he was a silk hand. It looks as if Henry French Jackson died in 1834.

I can't find William and Elizabeth in any censuses.

I need Belper BMDs and can't find them

I'm looking into this.initially I can tell you that Elizabeth was ELIZABETH FRENCH at birth..which explains Henry jackson.s middle name............I'm looking further.
Derek...thanks for the intro Chris!
EDIT...I can confirm a baptism for William Jackson at Crich 15.11.1783..and the death of Henry French Jackson aged 11 1834 belper...............There are trees on Ancestry that like many..are dubious..giving ELIZABETH FRENCH born Crich and an alleged marriage Willam Jackson..I would reject this on several levels..the children shown to this marriage do not include Emmanuel.....and since have the PR's for Crich I can tell you there is no marriage that fits...There IS a MARY ELIZABETH FRENCH..but she was born later.....
which does call into question whether he William Jackson baptism at Crich is the correct one. Oh Joy!!

Thanks Derek

I saw the tree on Ancestry and decided it was random drivel. It seemed to suggest that William was 20 years junior to his partner and that Elizabeth began having children in her forties. Although I agree that Henry French Jackson's birth suggests that his mother's surname was French I was hoping that I could find a credible marriage.

I might be tempted to work on the basis that they just didn't bother to get married!!!..I can find no reference to any marriage that fits.........and the fact that she used her maiden name in the childs name could ( and often is) a clue to her status..
Derek..oh by the way if you're looking for Belper Records..you should be looking at Duffield ..the parish of which Belper was a Chapelry
