Edits
26 July 1921 - Lancashire Evening Post - Preston, Lancashire, England
Bernard Hannaway was next charged with assaulting P.C. Quayle. The latter said had a prisoner in Harrison-street when three or four men knocked him away. He drew his staff to defend himself, but lost possession of it, and the prisoner Hannaway struck him on the jaw with it. The top of his lip was split, and afterwards a doctor had to put a stitch into it. Hannaway said the constables staff fell on the ground, and it was an accident that he was struck with it.
(following a disturbance Saturday night in Barrow, due to the unruly conduct of a number of young Irishmen. Two being sent to gaol for one month with hard labour, Bernard being one of them)
