The 1841 census has 2 pages of names who give the address as Pleasance 34, Edinburgh, St. Cuthberts. |

Here is access to a Post Office Directory for Edinburgh & Leith in 1846 / 7. |

In the 1846-7, and 1847-48 PO Directories, J Rettie, grocer, was at 34 Pleasance. |

I've had a look at the census image on Scotland's People, and his entry in 1841 shows his home address was in Carnegie Street , which runs more or less parallel to the Pleasance. |
