That's rather odd though as the only Grace Louisa named on military records was given as age 5 ( in 1914) I can see is this one but not born to Wilson/ Kelly ???

These are the army records, which give the detail that this is the same Stephen discharged from the Navy as I mentioned Feb 1910.

Stephen would not necessarily appear on a census if he was at sea, only if he was in dock in UK at the time? and Grace might have been listed as single in error.
Sadly this is the death of the child WILSON, DOROTHY ELSIE 19 ( months) Order GRO Reference: 1917 M Quarter in EDMONTON Volume 03A Page 907
You could buy the birth cert to check whether she was the daughter of Stephen and Grace

Just putting this one on the offchance, however it does look as though he was possibly discharged Feb 1910 due to "a disease of the ears"

TO NYX BUT IF STEPHEN WAS AT SEA, WOULDNT HE POP UP ON A CENSUS.. PLUS WHY WAS GRACE BACK WITH HER PARENTS AND PUT DOWN AS SINGLE. VERY CONFUSING. I THOUGHT THE GAP WAS LARGE FROM 1909 TO 1918 BUT PUT IT DOWN TO MISCARRIAGES AND THE WAR..... DIDNT THINK OF OTHER CHILDREN AS THATS ALL I KNEW ABOUT WHEN THE WILSON FAMILY SPOKE ABOUT THEM.. CHEERS HUN.

I just wondered as there is a big gap between marriage and first child whether Stephen was at sea in the early years of marriage and in 1911.
