Where did you get the information from... that your William Mark Bennett was born in Norwood, Lambeth in 1896............with a father named Mark William Bennett??

No it's not the family my grandad was a General labourer my GGrandad was a
Bricklayer.my dad was a only child. My Grandad married my Gran who was a Chapman from Truro in Cornwall

So, am I reading all of this correctly? Your grandfather was actually born William HENRY Bennett and NOT William Mark Benett. Born in Lambeth at the end of 1896 and registered in the first quarter of 1897.

If so you now have his parent's names as Mark William Bennett and Hannah Cockle.
