Sorry, Peter, I don't see Geo F arriving in USA, nor in later censuses.

There are loads of George and/or Frederick Mc/Macdonalds in the USA records, but none quite matching the details of that Geo F who left Liverpool in 1909.

Charles

Charles Report 18 Aug 2017 15:32

Hi Nyx.
Your latest post is definitely the correct family.
Frederick Macdonald's full name is George Frederick Ernest Macdonald born in Liverpool on 10 Sept. 1879.
Thanking you once more for your help.

Peter.

Charles

Charles Report 18 Aug 2017 15:21

Hi Argyllgran.
The George F Macdonald that you have found could be the correct one.
William Percy's step brother's full name was George Frederick Ernest Macdonald born 10 Sept. 1879. ( I have their birth certificates ).
Could you find any more details on the George F in your post for me please.
Thank you again for help.
Peter.

I'm not seeing him, Peter.

Will keep digging!

The trouble is, unless his middle initials are quoted, there's no way to pick him out from all the other George M*Donalds.

Nyx / ArgyllGran.
Have found your info. very helpfull.
I wonder if William Percy's stepbrother George Macdonald, born 1880 in Liverpool also went to the U.S.A. with his family.
Could you investigate this for me please, I don't have access to relevent sites.
Perhaps the family left America before the 1910 Census.!
Thanks.
Peter.

No, Nyx, I can't see any of them anywhere after the 1901 voyage - apart from that 1938 stamp you gave the link for.

Charles

I now have to " get my head around it all ".
Thanks again.

Yes, Nyx, I think you're right re Duquesne Heights, and also Allegheny.

I can't see a definite travel record for Charles - but then there are lots of Charles M*Donalds travelling to and fro.
Same goes for Elizabeth.

I think the address is Oneida Street?, and the following words seem perhaps a version of Duquesne Heights which is in Pittsburgh

ArgyllGran Report 13 Aug 2017 21:57

That record says he was going to join his "father Mr McDonald". I can't make out the address for his father.

In the column re whether the immigrant had any money in his possession, and if so how much, it says "No. Father will meet him on arrival at ship"
Or the last word might be " Phil" (Philadelphia.)

Four other columns, re criminal record if any, health problems, etc, are overwritten with "Met by mother [another ??] at the [something]"
