I come from that area and the workhouse gates were in Woolwich Road and the hospital was above it entrance in Vanburgh hill
The workhouse became the nurses quarters and the hospital became St Alphege hospital . Out daughter was born there in 1958 My mum was a Ward orderly there and then a cleaner in the nurses home in the 1950, s It later was demolished and replaced with the new build Greenwich District hospital but that was later closed and pulled down
I had ancestors who were in the workhouse too in the 1800,s

Nice find Chris-
Think it is the same person.
Looks like she was admitted to the workhouse on the 29th June 1881, and then discharged on the 30th June 1881 to go to the infirmary.
Name: Marya Hines Discharge Date: 30 Jun 1881 Discharge Age: 26 Record Type: Discharge Borough: Greenwich Parish or Poor Law Union: Greenwich Discharged 10.45 Remarks- to infirmary

Apologies and a big thanks to all. Firstly, I did boob with detailing James Hines birth in infirmary, have his birth cert in name of Hines although he was referred to as James Donovan later,my mistake. The Hine- Donovan census and other records in CrayfordI I do have these already so again, thanks to all concerned for taking time to post replies to my thread. What I'm after is a record of his mother Mary Anns admission would this still be held anywhere. I have not looked for union records before.
Regards to everyone

Have you got the birth cert as not seeing it
Plus anyone in the workhouse infimary wasn't necessarily in the workhouse
Folks used the infirmary for illness and births if they couldn't afford private doctor care
The 1881 census was taken 8th April

Have a look here and scroll to near the bottom of the page to find where "records" are kept:-
http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Greenwich/
It seems like Ancestry has some records searchable by name.
EDIT - are you sure Mary Ann Donovan was at the workhouse infirmary on census night as I can't seem to find her?
