eh!...confusing here!...
"someone killed a policeman" (who?, Surname Blunt?, was this in Cambs?)
"William was Father of Charles" (would that be a William Blunt then?)
Taken from a Bible, are there no dates?...
Chris :)

I think dame is 'same'?
I'd be careful following another tree, unless you can see the sources they've used.
This is an example- I can't see the tree you mention- however, there is a Wright/Snow/Benton family tree. They have Alice with parents Charles Thompson and Mary A Iliffe. This is the birth they have for Alice
Name Alice Maud Thompson Registration Year 1880 Registration Quarter Jan-Feb-Mar Registration district Rugby Inferred County Warwickshire Volume 6d Page 577
However, using the GRO it shows mother's name is Walden (so not the correct Alice):
THOMPSON, ALICE MAUD mmn: WALDEN GRO Reference: 1880 M Quarter in RUGBY Volume 06D Page 577 -------------------------------------------
I'm still looking into this- and will probably carry on tomorrow now, but looking at the birth date given for Emily I can see she married Roland Main in 1921:
Marriages Dec 1921
Main Roland Thompson Hull 9d 586 Thompson Emily Main Hull 9d 586
She's on the 1939 register with the same birth date (I don't have access to view the record).
1939: Brocklebank Household Pocklington R.D., Yorkshire (East Riding), England Emily Main 13 April 1895 Fred Brocklebank and 3 more people are on this record 2 more people who are officially closed

:) thanks Chris!
It's a toughy- wondering if the births of Alice and Henry weren't registered. Or, they were registered in a different surname- but it's difficult as they both married using Thompson.
I'll have a scout around the newpapers a bit later- fingers crossed something will turn up.

1881 the family were living Keyham.
This is possibly where the story of the policeman came from:
Leicester Chronicle - Saturday 06 August 1881
Keyham. Charles Thompson, navvy, Keyham, was charged with assaulting P.C. Bosworth whilst in the execution of his duty at the above place on the Ist inst. The constable stated that he saw defendant and another man fighting on Monday night, about eleven o'clock, at Keyham. He went to stop them, and defendant kicked him and knocked him down. He afterwards apprehended him, and whilst in his custody defendant declared he would finish him. Defendant was fined 40s., costs 24s. 6d., or one month's hard labour.

Wondering about this birth for Alice ?:
BLOXAM, ALICE mmn: ILIFFE GRO Reference: 1879 D Quarter in RUGBY Volume 06D Page 543
although I think the only way to be certain would be to order the certificate. -----------------------
Another possible article re Charles:
Leicester Journal - Friday 11 July 1879
Charles Springthorpe of Tilton, engine cleaner, charged Charles Thompson, a navvy, with i stealing shovel, value 2s.- Prosecutor said he missed the shovel Wednesday morning, the 2nd inst. It was all right on his premises on previous Sunday. The next day he accompanied P.C. Furnidge to Leicester, and met with the prisoner, who said he left the shovel on railway bank. P.C. Furnidge said when he charged prisoner with steeling the shovel, he said he left it on the bank near the Twyford viaducts. Had that morning been to the viaducts and found the shovel where prisoner had stated.- Prisoner told the Bench that prosecutor's wife lent him the shovel, " Don't tell Charlie, he'll grumble like fun," and that his ( the prisoner's) wife told prosecutor that he was using the shovel. Prosecutor re-called, said the latter statement was true. —The chairman reprimanded the prisoner for his ingratitude in not returning the shovel, and released him. At the request of Inspector Holloway, P.C Kestin and P.C. Cobley were appointed special constables at Loddington and Marefield, the conduct of the navvies at those places being, it was stated, very disorderly.
