This is the most obvious death for a John Whitmore in 1896, but that would make him of similar age to his 'daughter' |

We have a John Whitmore, died 1896 and his daughter(my Great great grandmother), Sarah Whitmore, born 30.03.1823 or possibly 06.04.1823, died March 1911. This is a work in progress - these dates have been gathered from family artefacts and not yet verified. |

Marriage appears to have been in 1904 so why do you say between 1915 and 1920 |

You could try the .British Newspaper Archives. Although not all papers have been uploaded, the ones which are, are searchable on GR & FMP. |

I'm currently researching my Whitmore ancestors and have been given anecdotal evidence that there was a court case between my Great Grandfather, Ernest Whitmore & his wife Jane (nee Billington). Jane died in 1920 so I am assuming this was between 1915 and 1920. |
