Unknown, try sending Thomas a personal message. He's put a photograph of your Dad with Valerie in his keepsake. I'm sure he'll allow you to access it.

Hi - I am the daughter of Henry (Harry) Alfred Langfield who was previously married to Jean Davison and Valerie would have been my half sister! My father died four years ago in Erskine Homes in Scotland in August 2013!

Did you or have you concidered getting the marriage certificate of Henry and Jean to clarrify Jeans fathers name as this will be a greater help in being sure of the right person,,,,,,,,Jean born in Newcastle is felt is not the right person you are assuming is Valeries mother and this will take you on the wrong family road of researching by not getting some proof.

A copy of marriage certificate wil cost you £9-25.

In 1946 Ellen's daughter, Gladys Davies (born 1921, married Peter Shelton in 1941) was living at the other address you gave where Jean Maclean was listed in 1946:

You assume you have the birth certificate of the correct Jean- but if you look through the information given on this thread, a Jean Davison with that birth date on the 1939 register does not fit with the details of Valeries mum.

The marriage certificate of Jean and Henry Langfield will hopefully narrow down the correct birth certificate for Jean.

If Jean emigrated and didn't return to England, I would doubt that you would be able to view her 1939 register entry if she was born in 1920. Unless of course, someone had sent proof of her death. Otherwise her records would remain as closed.

Why do you assume the 1920 certificate is for the Jean you are interested in?

Jean Davison Born 17/3/1920 23 William Street Newcastle Father Thomas William Davison Mother Ann:e Mary Davison formaly Holmes from Birth cert sub district Westgate. I assume this is the birth certificate of Jean?!.

I will be away for two weeks and will have no access to internet will try to download certificates letters and pictures when I get back.

I have posted the details from the 1920 birth certificate which you PM'd to me - you can do the same with the 1939 certificate details onto this thread.

You can put the pictures into your Keepsafe (see top line of the page) and make them accessible to everyone with the link posted here on the thread.

Thomas the photo and birth certificates you mention are on Ancestry on various trees. I think most the helpers already have access to them. However, there is confusion as the Jean born 17th March 1920 appears to have married Mr Nairn- However, the Jean that married Mr Nairn, does not appear to be the mother of Valerie.

From the addresses you gave, it seems that Valerie's birth Mum married Clifford G Maclean in 1946 and, as you say, went to Canada shortly after.

Do you have the marriage certificate of Jean and Henry? Who does Jean list as her father?What is his occupation, and Jean's address?

It would also help to have the marriage certificate of Jean and Clifford Maclean.

I have the birth cert for Jean 17/3/1920 I assume it is her birth certificate.
Letter from Jean to Clare Baldock dated 29/4/1946 from 232 Whitton Avenue Greenford Middlesex saying she has got her permit to go abroad.
I also have the birth certificate for Valerie Jean Langfield born 29/1/1939, mother Jean Langfield formaly Davison of 62 Killowen avenue Northholt.Her father Henry Alfred Langfield Wireless factory store keeper.
I would like to post these birth cert and pictures if you could tell me how to.
I was happily married to Valerie for 40 years before she sadly died of Cancer in 1997

Yes because they dont do the research and take a pluck anything out of thin air or copy others wrong research because it seems to fit.

I think its almost 99% sure things have been put on the right track,,,,,,,and Mr N or his wife have been misleading and any full reference to them should really be removed now.

It seems that many people on Ancestry have assumed the 1920 birth certificate for Jean that Thomas has is correct and have then attached photo's of the Jean that married Mr Nairn from someone elses tree.

Not sure how accurate the information is in that tree- they don't have Clifford Maclean listed but they do have a Harry Langfield b1881 listed.
