1) John Reginald Davis - I can't find him in 1939. He died in 1974 so he should be there, I don't believe he left the country but maybe he did. Can't find his wife either. He was born Dec 22 1891 in Nailsworth Gloucestershire. Died in Jan. 30 1974 in Yorkshire. His wife Dorothy Eleanor died Nov. 1 2011 at the age of 90 so she should of been hanging around England somewhere too.

2) Frederick(Fred) Percival Davis - He died in the Royal Free Hospital in London May 29 1940. I have found his wife at home but he is not with her :-(. So where is he? Born in June 4 1882 in Witney, Oxfordshire.

Thanks for looking in. :-D

Well as Dorothy didn't die till 2011 her death won't have been picked up so she is probably still a closed record

They didn't marry till 1944 so won't be a couple on the register

Just a long shot, in case of a bad mistranscription (I don't have credits to look at all the details):

Phina Household St Marylebone, London, England
First name(s) Last name(s) Birth year
Fred P Phina 1881

Perhaps he was already in hospital?

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 18 Jun 2017 17:10

Doesn't look to be mistranscribed (although surname possibly China and not Phina). Name definately not Davis:

57 Blenheim Terrace , St Marylebone, London, England
Fred P Phina 11 May 1881 Male Civil Servant (Tmc Grade Iii) Married
----------------------------------------

I can't see records for any patients at the Royal Free Hospital, Grays Inn Road, London in 1939.

Thanks, AQ - that will be this man:

CHINA Fred Percy Bath 5c 628

Well, perhaps Rocky's Fred was indeed in hospital - although hospital patients were supposed to be listed..

Hey a big Thank you to all participates in this thread. <3 <3

I did not know that he was married twice or that he was in China or that he was still working in the second world war. I don't know anything about John except that he was a submarine commander, and that his sub was almost sunk by his cousin the aforementioned Fred in WW1. Now I know a whole lot :-D WHOO HOO Too bad grandpa isn't around to know about it. :-(

I wouldn't be surprised that Fred was in hospital ArgyllGran. His brother(my grandfather said "he was pitiful, armchair bound day and night" :-( Not a very nice thing to say about your own brother, I don't think.
