Even with this name, the transcriber has suggested "LACCHENS" in the below census in 1871 [I have corrected it]: Name: Lacchens Winterhalder [Zaccheus Winterhalder] Age: 48 Estimated birth year: abt 1823 Relation: Head Spouse's Name: Frances Winterhalder Gender: Male Where born: Duchy of Baden [Urach, Amt Neustadt, Duchy of Baden] Civil Parish: St Pancras Ecclesiastical parish: St John County/Island: London Country: England Registration district: Pancras Sub-registration district: Tottenham Court ED, institution, or vessel: 2a Household schedule number: 622 Piece: 208 Folio: 77 Page Number: 87 Household Members: Name Age Lacchens Winterhalder 48 Frances Winterhalder 43 Emily Winterhalder 20 Fanny Winterhalder 15 Charles Winterhalder 10 Matilda Winterhalder 6 Walter Winterhalder 3 We have the marriage of Zaccheus to Frances Southgate and subsequent census entries for Frances on her own. But we cannot find Zaccheus again. Odd that Frances says that she is married, i.e., not a widow, in1881, but Zaccheus is not there. Nor can we find his death anywhere. PLEASE can you find this elusive German clockmaker for us? Thank you and standing by.

SAFC, you are very clever. It certainly looks like him in 1881; everything 'matches'. Wonder why he's not with his wife and family?? The possible death in 1895 is very interesting and highly possible. We will send for the Death Certificate. But where is he in1891?? And also 1861?? And can you find the son Charles' birth details, please? I can't. Standing by, and thank you.
:-) :-)

Alviegal, this is BRILLIANT! It's such a difficult name and seems to have been misheard/mistranscribed etc over the years. The 1851 is fantastic to see. Where, on where, are they in 1861?? Thank you so much - you always come to my rescue. :-D :-D

1861 certainly seems possible safc. Wonder if they tried anglicizing their name for that one? Who knows, maybe it was just easier for whover was writing the census details down.

I agree that the 1861 is very probably our family. Not sure how our man got from Zaccheus to William, though! Perhaps he was fed up with spelling his name ......
Thank you for all your hard work; much appreciated. :-D :-D
