I cannot find any birth record of my great-grandmother Alice Syron. Have a copy of the marriage certificate between her and my great-grandfather which gives d.o.b. as 1869. I believe she was born in Birmingham. Her father was John Syron (gunfitter). I thought that all births had to be recorded in 1869? Can anyone give me tips on where I may be able to find this record please?

In England/Wales it was not compulsory to register births until 1875.
For various reasons a lot of people didn't bother (including my great grandfather, who had four unregistered children before he had to conform, in 1875!)
If she was still alive in 1939, you can get her dob from the 1939 register, on FMP. If you aren't a member, there are several people on here who will look for you.

Thank you all for your help. I did find Patrick Syron but not sure if he is Alice's father as it states on her marriage certificate (July 1893) that her father is John Syron, and he is one of the Syron family mentioned. It could possibly have been a copying error on the certificate as groom's father is also named John.
I did find the marriage details of Patrick and Caroline. It does seem strange that two brothers both had a daughter called Alice.
I cannot trace her through the 1939 register as I believe she re-married sometime after my great-grandfather's death in 1910.
I think I will have to accept that I will not be able to clarify this further!
