I am trying to find connections to the Chrystal family of Sligo. My great Grandmother was Anne Christal and I believe she was born in Cliffoney. Annie Chrystal married Thomas Haran [1842-1892]. Anie and Thomas had several children one of whom was my grandmother, Annie Maria Haran [she married John Joseph Caslin]. My grandfather, John Joseph Caslin was RIC for a while and I believe several of the Chrystals were also RIC. I canot seem to break through the wall. I have listed my dna form ancestry.com on gedmatch [A274301] and on ftdna [479820]. My ftdna was a test of the maternal line only and matches seem to go back to Scotland. |

Thank you. the information that everyone sent back is accurate and accords with my data. The only exception might be my grandfather, John Joseph Caslin. I did not realize that he was in the RIC as late as 1922. If there is only one John Caslin in the RIC in that time period, the record would have to be of him. I do know, that he went Killybegs, to Donegal Town and to several other places as he seemed to have a child everywhere he went! [all with the same wife!]. I had found a Chrystal who was a local head- a Patrick Chrystal- the one whose records go to 1854. |
