I am at a loss to find any record of my great grandmother Eleanor Mcgregor Duff. Apart from her marriage certificate and knowing she went Canada i am at a loss. Any advice.

Is that her married or maiden name? When and where did she marry?

Gives a little extra info and details of a sister.

Neils' Death certificate (above) shows parents as Charles Coffield and Mary nee Dempsey, so there is something wrong with that 1901 census I posted earlier (Mother named as Jane!) or there's a bit of a bend to the truth? Jane's husband going back on census was a William.

There is a sister named Nellie in 1901, so ?? would be the sister named on the death certificate. (? she's granddaughter Nellie McTaggart b c1888 in 1891)

And a Neil and Thomas who also appear together in 1911

There is a Charles Coffield on the 1891 census as grandson (to Jane) aged 11, who is with the Dempsey family in 1881 as grandson aged 1 - so not old enough to be Neil's Father, but did this inspire the "not quite the truth". He and Neil would have grown up together.

Jane Coffield has a daughter Mary b c1861 who is living at home in 1891 At Burnside Street, Cambeltown and is a Farm Servant.

Had to do it - Birth Certificate from Scotland's People -
