Hello, I am trying to find information on my aunties.
Birth and death: Doris Walker nee Carter born c.1914 Melbourne m. Robert Walker. Father Arthur Lawrence Carter, mother Daisy Isabel Young
Death: Irene Daisy Ellis nee Carter born 1912 Hotham West, Victoria m. Frank Rowe Ellis. Same parents as Doris.
I am almost positive they would have lived most of their lives in Victoria, but Vic BDM gives only birth record of Irene and no results at all for Doris.
Regards, David Carter

Is the information that you want online, or restricted by security?

Hi Patchem, Valerie Bryan has been able to give me the death info on Irene, but I have no idea why Doris' birth info is not available.

Arthur and Daisy married in 1909. When daughter Irene married in 1937 she was described as the 3rd daughter of Arthur and Daisy- although I only see one sister born before her. Her sister Rose was bridesmaid, and her brother Lawrence was groomsman. There was no mention of Doris.

I was only 6 when my family left Victoria for the Gold Coast, so my recollections aren't perfect. I knew I had an uncle George (Married Lillian) but that is another record I can't find.
Very strange; perhaps both Doris and George were adopted but they both certainly had a strong family resemblance.
Thank you all for your assistance. Regards, David

I believe the first daughter was Stella, the second Rose and the third Irene. How do I access the will of my Grandfather Arthur Laurence?

I think I have ordered a copy of the probate through PROV. Only time will tell if I have been successful. Thanks again.

The engagement notice for George in the 'The Age' Melbourne 29th December 1943 was to Marjorie Elsworthy:
Engagements Announced ELSWORTHY— CARTER.— Marjorle Fin ney, youngest daughter of Petty Officer and Mrs. A E. Elsworthy, 8 Llddlard-street. Glenferrle. to George Arthur, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Carter. 57 Bal moral-avenue. Pascoe Vale South. -----------------------------------
I don't know if the marriage took place, but it is definitely your George as Rose and her husband Thomas Hiscock were living at 57 Balmoral Avenue on the Victoria Electoral Register in 1946. -------------------------------------
George was the youngest son, so his birth won't be online. This small article states he was 13 in 1935 making his birth around 1922:
The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. ) Mon 5 Aug 1935 George Carter, aged 13 years, of West Beach road, St. Kilda, was struck by a motor-car at the corner of Dandenong road i and Tooronga road, East Malvern. He was treated by the Alfred Hospital for lacera- tions on the head and shock. ------------------------------
Perhaps Doris was a little younger than you thought and perhaps why her birth doesn't appear online either? Sister, Irene didn't pass away until 2003, if Doris also lived a long life her death wont be online. ------------------------
Marriage for son Lawrence:
First name(s) Lawrence David Last name Carter Sex Male Marriage year 1937 Spouse's first name(s) Marj Alice Eileen Spouse's Last Name Campbell State Victoria Country Australia
His death: name(s) Lawrence David Carter Age 71 Sex Male Birth year 1914 Death year 1985 Father's name Arthur Lawrenc Mother's name Isabel Daisy Death place Oakl State Victoria Registration number 25129

I thought they were cutting it a bit fine with the dates of the marriage and squeezing two other daughters in before Irene's birth! Stella was born before the marriage:
Family name: YOUNG Given names: Stella May Carter Sex: Female Father's name: Unknown Mother's name: Isabella (Young) Place of birth HOTHAM EAST Registration year :1908
