Thank you for all your efforts. I have applied for the marriage certificate to confirm the marriage for Tom and Daisy Gertrude Darlow.
The records on Freereg for the baptisms of the children give three different addresses in Grimsby, which I will pursue in the electoral rolls in the Grimsby Library.

The death of Tom seems to be the difficult date to find.

Probate record for a Tom Johnson - I don't see the death of a Tom Johnson anywhere in the first quarter of 1975:

There are a few deaths of Thomas Johnsons in that quarter - including one in Caistor, Lincs, and one in Mansfield, Notts.
Could someone be named Tom on probate even if actually Thomas??

Maybe the informant got the year wrong ??

So Daisy and Tom had split, or Tom had died, between 1929 (conception of last Johnson / Darlow birth in Grimsby), and 1939.

This was the one who married Daisy Darlow which I mentioned.

I have just noticed that on his records his occupation was 'Joiner' - On 1911 census his father was a joiner and he was a joiner's apprentice, so it is looking good that Daisy might be the correct one?

Having examined the photograph Tom has the insignia of a Battery quartermaster Sergeant on his arm, and therefore appears to be the second one listed by Argyllgran.


I must once again thank everyone who has contributed to this enquiry

I do not have his service number, but the second of those above appear most likely.
I cannot explain why he should be baptised a third time. When I next in our local library I will check the parish records for St martin to see if there are any comments on the register.

There's this Tom, who was in the RFA and awarded the Military Medal, but there's no image, and no other info on Ancestry:

St James is the parish church for Great Grimsby. St Pauls church was in Corporation Road Grimsby, and very close to Ayscough Street, where the parents were living and where the grandparents were living in Corporation Road. Of the siblings two were baptised at St James and all other sibligs were baptised at St Pauls.
