I was going for the Doris born at end of 1910, as the one born in 1911 in West Derby is, surely:

but that was why I wondered if a more precise birthday was known.

Ethel Lyon Hayes birth registration mmn Quinn - was hoping it was Davis!! (just incase Ethel was trying to make the birth look respectable and used her own Mum's maiden name)

Have you got Doris's death certificate or do you know her exact birth date? (Have you found her in 1939?)

I am looking for a birth certificate for Doris Hayes, I have her mother Ethel Lyon Hayes on the 1911 census at 313 Edge Lane, Liverpool. Which I believe to be a home for unmarried mothers. Ethel is listed in the census as 'inmate' Ethel is my Gg grandmother and brought my grandmother up believing that Doris was my grandmothers Aunt.
I have found Doris on 2 marriage certificates and on her son's birth certificate so I know this is the name she went by. Could it be that she changed her name from the birth certificate?
Or could Ethel have left the unmarried mothers home to have Doris so would be registered elsewhere?
Ethel had family connections in Maryport and Whitehaven but I can't find anything there either.
Any ideas would be a help.
