I'm trying to find records for this couple. I am trying to work out if Kathleen is a relative but I'm getting really confused.

A Kathleen M Taylor (valentine) is apparently showing on the 1939 register with Hilda and Stanley Taylor in West Derby. Hilda and Stanley had my grandmother dorothy and I believe a daughter called Hilda A L Taylor. I cannot find a Kathleen M Taylor born in West Derby though only in Prescot. I think she was born in 1930. I'm so confused!

Sorry I meant Sidney not Stanley. I'm tired and my brain is going to explode. My grandmother Dorothy Irene Taylor was born in Derby. I have an electoral roll of her living with Sidney and Hilda with her husband herbert in Birmingham. Unless I am wrong and they are not her parents.

Just a quick question. On the 1939 register why is the name Taylor in brackets after Kathleen Valentine?

The Register was a working document until early 1991.

The original entry was as Kathleen Taylor. When she married, the original document was amended by crossing out Taylor and writing Valentine above it.
The Valentine (Taylor) transciption is a way of showing that although she was listed as Taylor in 1939, she was known as Valentine by the time she died. There is a notation of the image that the change was made on 17-12-5(1 or 7 it's not crystal clear)

You occasionally get transcribed entries where there are 3 surnames eg
Kendrick (Crowe, Hamilton)
As she was only a year old in 1939, we can see that she was living with Hamiltons which would have been her maiden name. From the handwritten changes and corresponding dates, it would appear she became a Crowe in 1957 then a Kendrick in 1963. Her death would have been registered in that name.

I'm not sure that Kathleen should be an open entry on the 1939 register!

Is she still living then? If she died post 2006, someone who had a copy of her DC might have requested it to be opened.

FMP/NA are trying to match the death indices 1991-2006 to the names & dob shown on the register. It's usually easier with males than females who married.
Dad, 1923-2006, has been opened but Mum, 1919-2003, hasn't.

I'm not sure if she is alive. I am trying to piece together my biological family tree as I'm adopted. I am hoping she is alive or if Ai can find out if she had any children that might lead me to my biological mother and brothers.

I was going by the 1955 marriage posted above.

I don't see a likely death for Kathleen up to 2006, although there is a Kathllen M Valentine listed on the 2012 electoral register in Wrexham that may be her.

Edit: Also listed 2012- 2014 at another address in Wrexham

There's no Probate entry for a Kathleen M Valentine 2011-2016 nor Kathleen or M something Kathleen if her middle M name was the one she went by. On the other hand, not all Estates go to Probate
