at long last the birth certificate for Bertha Fuggle came confirmed her mother was Jane Fuggle formerly Hinkley.

I don't understand why you've repeated your original post- do you have Bertha's birth certificate? and it gives her mother's name as Bishop?- as records seem to indicate otherwise:

On the 1861 Mary is listed as Mary A- but in 1871 she is listed as Mary J.

Look at ArgyllGran's post- George married Jane Hinkley, born 1839.

Jane Bishop married another George (I suspect he died shortly after he married Jane Bishop, which is why there is a lot of confusion).
