Hi again,

I found a Elizabeth Ann Norrish marrying a John Nightinggale in Nottingham in 1885 and on the 1891 census she is a widow living with and Alfred Bromley and a Clara Norris who was born in Australia so I think the 1881 census that ArgyllGran found is right but Clara's birth she found is wrong or has the wrong mother's name down.

I'll check the 1885 marriage when I'm in the archives.

Yes that could be her in 1871 but where was William and when did they go to Australia??

Right it now looks like she married Alfred Dawson Bramley (the above Alfred Bromley) in June 1891.

I wonder if Edwin's brother William could be the husband of your Elizabeth Norrish, and father of Bessie, and presumably Clara?

Elizabeth's age is a couple of years out from her actual birth on the marriage record, so William's could be too.

I did wonder if they might both have lied about their ages in order to get married - though their parents would have had to be in on that!

(That's assuming the marriage is the 1867 Derby one posted by safc yesterday at 18:34.)
