John born 1822 had a brother Alexander Proudfoot Macdonald born 1826 in Kilcock Ireland he is my gt. gt. Grandfather.
John's father born 1800 was serving with 26th. Regiment of Foot in Edinburgh when he married Catherine Wallace. He later served in Ireland and then India where he was invalided out due to chronic arthritis. ( Chelsea Pensioner living in Scotland), Died in Montrose.
