Hi Chris, no I have not seen the 1841 census for Elizabeth Row b 1826 Colchester. I suppose because of the Butcher connection been looking for Butcher, until yesterday when I received the birth certificate for Martha. Thanks will look |

Hi Chris. Yes this is the mother, she must have gone to live with her son William Butcher Fitch after her husband William died in 1884 |

Hi Rose. Certainly do but had a wonderful outcome on Brian Moore and found his family who I am still in contact with. This family Fitch is my cousins husbands family so I don't know anything about them |

Hi Chris. I do not know about William Butcher Fitch if his mother is Elizabeth a Row because I only bought the cert for his sister Martha Butcher Fitch. Re death of William Henry Fitch 1884. The death looks like him because Peter Street where he died is in Gravesend. I live in Gravesend so I suppose I could send one of his family to try and find his grave |

Dismissing John and Elizabeth Row from Sussex because found living in Tunbridge Kent in 1871 and still together when the Fitches lived in Gravesend in 1871 |

Hello Rose, nice to see you on here again, remember me.Dont know why I get family lines that give me problems. No I have not found William Fitch prior to 1861, If I could have found a marriage to him and Elizabeth I thought I may have something to go by. Looking at his age in 1861 must say he looks old, so does Elizabeth so perhaps it is a second marriage for them both.. |

Hi Malyon, well that's very interesting, re John and Elizabeth Row, so if she married William Fitch wonder where her 2 children were. It does state on all the census records from 1871 to 1901 that Elizabeth was born in Colchester Essex and she married prior 1864. looking at the 1851 census it states that Elizabeth Row was born in Eastbourne Sussex, Looks good being a John Row and Elizabeth Butcher but I really have my doubts as being the one I want |

Just looking at the 1871 census, given the ages of William and Emily, the children are born to Emily when she was 40/42...which is quite late so I would assume there are children prior to that , or it is a second marriage for both? |

Thank you all for your recent messages. I will dismiss William being in Prison 1869 because in 1871 he was living in Gravesend with family. The death in 1884 a very strong possibility. Could not find William or wife Elizabeth/Emily in 1881 census but found daughter Marta Butcher Fitch living as an in servant at a men's outfitters ( incidentally the shop only closed just a few yrs ago) her brother William Butcher Fitch was by that time a fisherman going to sea and settled in Lincolnshire with a family of his own but in 1901 his mother Elizabeth 76 widow living with him. The marriage of Emily Elizabeth Row in Ramsgate will dismiss because found her in previous census with her family in Margate Kent. The 1881 Wiliam Fitch living in Swanscombe Kent, although it's near Gravesend , throws me because states widower yet wife Elizabeth still alive, who the Elizabeth is living with him unmarried yet born in Colchester, I wouldn't think it was wrong info written down.. I just can't find a marriage for William and Elizabeth Fitch but somehow I feel there must be some connection with the name Butcher because of them giving both their children as a second name. |
