That is a good possibility especially with both spellings i didnt see That one
The other nearest one i found was death 1980 aged 89 Glasgow Martha Street
Several of the Elizabeth MacDermid listings have mother s name not permissable what does that mean ? If I order document will mothers name not be on it ?

I wonder if this could possibly be Elizabeth's death, if the informant was 10 years out on her age?? It's recorded twice, once for each spelling.
1970 MCDIARMID ELIZABETH Other surname: MACDERMID F 64 CAMBUSLANG GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 627/00 0027

Thanks Chris
there is nothing extra about the McDiarmids on Alisoun's Macdermid thread
Elizabeth McDiarmid Macdermid is the only common denominator
Alisoun doesn't come on here much now I will pass any findings on to her if I do find descendents of Elizabeth + Andrew Macdermid :-)

Elizabeth was probably still alive in 1964
I've just looked at her husbands death record closely he is listed as married to Elizabeth McDiarmid
the intimate friend who registered death does not have a clear initial but it is definitely a McDiarmid ;
I havent found any children for this couple yet both families followed the naming traditions closely so I would expect a Malcolm .Archibald and Andrew as first 3 sons and Sarah ,jean elizabeth as daughter names with middle names of Andrews or Kyle
ps thanks for finding the street name of Lightburn Road

yes argyll gran I was hoping to find what happened to Elizabeth + her descendents by finding connections to her parents + siblings
they were my great uncle's in-laws
It's all interesting but I can't afford to research them all
the elderly couple JS mentioned coming back from NZ have right initials + ages so maybe i should look for Elizabeth in Glossop Derbyshire too

In your opening post you said you wanted to know "what became of Archibald mcdiarmid b1870 aryshire and his family".
Are you now only interested in Elizabeth's descendants, as mentioned in your last post?

The Whitmore-Hayes tree says this is Elizabeth's brother Andrew's return to UK from NZ - presumably for his father's funeral:
Andrew McDiarmid in the UK, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 Name: Andrew McDiarmid Birth Date: 5 Nov 1900 Age: 59 Port of Departure: Southampton, England Arrival Date: 10 Aug 1960 Port of Arrival: Liverpool, England Ports of Voyage: Cape Town Ship Name: Southern Cross Shipping line: Shaw, Savill and Albion Company Ltd Official Number: 8338/01
Travelling with wife Margaret (DOB 13.08.1903).
UK address: 11 Kippin Drive, Brisby, Lanarkshire. {I expect this means Busby - no such place in Lanarkshire as Brisby. And Kippen Drive, not Kippin.) He was a company director, and they were intending to stay in the UK for 6 months.
The tree says his wife was Margaret Nicol, and they had four children

HOWEVER -
that same tree says that Elizabeth's sister Sarah married Andrew Carmichael in 1917 in Bothwell - same as Mary!
It also gives her the same three children, and the same place and date of death.
So proof should be sought before believing anything!
And yes, it was Mary who married Andrew Carmichael:
1917 CARMICHAEL ANDREW CLARKSON MCDIARMID MARY S CAMBUSLANG GLASGOW CITY/LANARK 627/00 0023

There's a lot of detail about Mary Stewart McDiarmid (Elizabeth's sister) , birth 28 November 1893, Cambuslang, in the Whitmore-Hayes tree on Ancestry.
Marriage to Andrew Clarkston Carmichael in 1917 in Cambuslang, children (Sarah 1920, Margaret 1921, Robert 1925), death as in previous post.
She must have emigrated some time between 1921 and 1925.
That tree says that her mother Sarah died 1 August 1956, Cleland, Lanarkshire.

JC mentioned the Platt family tree on Ancestry.
I can't seem to find that one, but there's a Platt Smith family tree which says that Archibald died 20 Dec 1960 at 41 Bothwell Road, Hamilton. In which case, this would be his death:
1960 MCDIARMID ARCHIBALD M 91 HAMILTON /LANARK 647/00 0306 If you have some spare credits on SP you can view the cert for all the details.
The same tree says his daughter Mary Stewart McDiarmid died 12 March 1972 at Cornwall Hospital, Auckland, NZ
As I can't find the tree JC mentions, with details of son George's descendants, you may already have found this:
Mrs Sarah McDiarmid [George's wife, not his mother] in the UK, Outward Passenger Lists, 1890-1960 Name: Mrs Sarah McDiarmid Gender: Female Age: 27 Birth Date: abt 1895 Departure Date: 13 Oct 1922 Port of Departure: Southampton, England Destination Port: Auckland, New Zealand Ship Name: Suffolk Shipping line: The New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited Official Number: 115859 Master: C Matthews
Travelling with husband George, aged 31, and children Mary (2) and Sarah (1). Address: 59 LIGH . . . . RD , Cambuslang <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< [Lighthouse ??? as in Brigid's post above]
[EDIT: Lightburn Road is the nearest possibility I can see on Streetview.]
George McDiarmid in the New Zealand, Cemetery Records, 1800-2007 Name: George McDiarmid Birth Date: abt 1891 Death Age: 69 Death Date: 1 Jan 1960 Burial Place: Waikato, New Zealand Cemetery: Old Te Kuiti Spouse Name: Sarah McDiarmid
Sarah McDiarmid in the New Zealand, Cemetery Records, 1800-2007 Name: Sarah McDiarmid Burial Place: Waikato, New Zealand Cemetery: Te Kuiti [burial of ashes]
One of these will be their marriage (the Cartwright family tree on Ancestry suggests it was Sarah Murray, but doesn't give proof). View the certs on SP to check which is correct:
1919 MCDERMID GEORGE QUINN SARAH COATBRIDGE OR OLD MONKLAND /LANARK 652/02 0166
1917 MCDIARMID GEORGE MURRAY SARAH BOTHWELL /LANARK 625/01 0025
The spelling of McDiarmid is right in the Murray marriage, but that's no guarantee.

Thanks Chris
To save anyone trawling thru above links on roots thread there is no further info on Archibald McDiarmid and his family or what happened to Elizabeth after she became a MacDermid
The booklist has an Archibald McDiarmid with a John dall in Stothers in 1910/11 but with a Cambuslang association so that may help me choose which Archibald to look up
There are 3 Archibald McDiarmid in Lanarkshire
Not sure where Stothers is . It looks like archd age 43 in St rollox in 1911 will be most likely one to look at
;-) :-)

Yes I know I will get more Scotland's people credits but wondered if there are any other places to search too
.I'm not on ancestry yet
Thanks for tip about family search Annie
There are so many Mcdermid.and variant spellings all over the world nothing seems loony to me .
several with the McDiarmid spelling seem to be Irish origin rather than Scots

have you seen the Platt family tree at Ancestry?
The tree connects to an incoming passenger record, 1953 at Southampton coming from NZ, for Mr A and Mrs S McDiarmid, aged 83 and 82, proposing to live in Glossop, Derbyshire.
That seems a little loony to me. The tree does show descendants for sons George and Andrew.
If you don't know that person, you could enquire.
As far as searching at scotlandspeople, anybody would have to spend credits.
