Birth for Charlotte - Stafford Walsall (Walsall was in Staffordshire until the early 1970s)

It was supposed to provide a better life for orphans and children whose parents could not look after them. The reality was often very different!
If you google British Home children there is lots of information. http://www.bifhsgo.ca/cpage.php?pt=13
I wondered if this was Lotties' siblings leaving on the ship 'Lake Superior'? Perhaps Henrietta was Esther?? Or maybe Walter and Samuel are just coincidence? I think it's worth looking into it.
http://www.bifhsgo.ca/cstm_homeChildren.php?page=14&sortCol=sna&srch= BLOOMER Henrietta NA Lake Superior 1886 06 15 Ontario Record Detail BLOOMER Samuel NA Lake Superior 1886 06 15 Ontario Record Detail BLOOMER Walter NA Lake Superior 1886 06 15 New Brunswick
If we find anything to confirm if the children went to Canada, the Central Library in Birmingham holds some fantastic records for the Middlemore children.

It was 27 Frederick St and not Francis Street.
Wolverhampton Street is 1 side of the Walsall Canal going towards the New Art Gallery. The other side of the canal at the gallery end is Marsh St which leads into Navigation St and 1st right off there is Frederick St. The street goes almost parallel to Wolverhampton St, it goes back towards Pleck Rd, it comes out in Bridgeman Street.
As the crow flies a short distance but in reality you have to skirt the canal.
Guess who grew up just off Wolverhampton Rd and used to walk into town via Wolverhampton Rd and Wolverhampton St. :-)

I was wondering if, like some of my family, they were sent to Canda from Middlemore or barnado homes?

This has been so helpful! Cant believe it looks as though with your help Ive discovered a secret family cover up with the illgetimacy of Florence and other children that nobody in our family knew about!!
I did start to notice that David seemed to be on a few census's including when florence was married he lived with her and her children then!
Absolutely fantastic stuff!
Thanks Everyone!

Also just to add, I have on Florences marriage certificate that her middle name was may and on the baptism its down as Florence Amy - I know all the same letters are there but would this be a normal mistake on either a baptism or marriage document?

I have Florences marriage certificate which has down the same father as Lottie - James Bloomer
I have just noticed on the marriage certificates that Florence is listed as 19 in 1903 when she wed so would make both Lottie and Florence born in 1884 :-S confused! However as you say if Florence was born 1887 James died in 1884 so would of have had to of been illegitimate.
If this was the case would they of been able to put James down as the father on the marriage certificate if he wasn't?
Think it is definitely worth me purchasing the birth certificates as this is getting interesting.

Had not picked up Florrie on the 1891 census thank you this is great, it shows that Lottie was not living with her mother at the time of the incident.
Apologies Austin - I slightly confused myself there - I meant the williams family (adoptees) living in Frederick Street, Walsall
and it was Lotties father died in Francis Street, in Birmingham :-S :-)
Thanks again everybody! x
