Morning all

I am hoping to track the parents of the following lady - Jane Ashcroft.

Marriage: 12 May 1913 St Mary, Ince, Lancashire, England
Richard Bushell - 23, Collier, Bachelor, 23 Cross Street
Jane Ashcroft - 19, Spinster, 7 Margaret Street
Groom's Father: Henry Bushell, deceased, Labourer
Bride's Father: William Henry Ashcroft, Collier
Witness: Nehemiah Edwards; Catherine Guest

I have her details after her marriage (she and Richard had four sons) but am having difficulty in going backwards with her parents.

It is possible that her father married an Alice Eaude, but that brings its own problems due to mistranscriptions of that name - Eude - Cude - Youde etc.

This is could be Jane's baptism - she would have been 15 at the time.

I have Jane on the 1901 and 1911 - father born in Orrell in Wigan.

Going backwards, I have her father on the 71 and 91 census with a possible baptism in 1866 but can only find a suitable birth in 1868! At this point I went to bed.


Tackling her mother's side (if the name is Eaude)......there is her birth in 1861 but cannot find her between then and her marriage in 1889.


At this stage........I would really appreciate some help and advice as I feel I am missing something obvious. If all else fails, I will need the Ashcroft/Eaue marriage cert I guess.
